Beige Wedge Strap Sandals
Spring and summer closet without them does not exist. Every woman has at least one pair of women's sandals in her closet. Lightweight, openwork women's shoes, consisting of a sole and several thongs or straps, are indispensable footwear for summer. Comfortable, fashionable and chic sandals, come in such a huge variety of cuts and designs that we can easily match them to any styling. They will work well both in informal, casual styling, on evening "big outings" or matched with elegant, formal outfits. And what kind of sandals do we wear most often?
The iconic "floss sandals" from Carrie Bradshaw's closet
They have long had a strong position in the history of women's fashion, and it does not look like they will lose it anytime soon. The so-called floss dsandals are heeled sandals with narrow straps. They were loved by Carrie Bradshaw from "Sex in the City," an exceptionally strong trendsetter of the late 1990s, adored by Paris Hilton, and followed by most women. They are a hot trend again, present in the offer of most brands. We have them in a wide variety of designs - on a stiletto and on a post, with small and sky-high heels, with straps tied in a bow or crossed, covering the foot or just the big toe, wrapping around the ankle or calf. Such women's sandals go well with both airy, frilly floral dresses and frayed jeans. They will also work well in an office set, with a pair of elegant pants and a long shirt.
Comfortable and diverse women's flat sole sandals
High heels when running around town can be troublesome, especially in summer. If you are primarily concerned about comfort, you will have no trouble choosing the right summer footwear. Flat sandals for women are promoted by an exceptionally large number of designers, and the designs are very diverse. We can choose the most comfortable version inspired by sports models - with wide straps and a solid sole. We can also go wild, because among women's sandals on a flat sole we can find very sophisticated designs - models decorated with feathers or inspired by the aesthetics of African tribes, classic rompers or sandals with a lot of jewelry accents, shining from stones and crystals, covered with lace and glitter.
Women's espadrille sandals in a new look
Women's espadrilles are also iconic footwear, known for years, in fact, for centuries. These lightweight canvas shoes with a distinctive straw-woven sole were invented by the Catalans and have been worn since the 14th century! Today, sandals inspired by the Spanish classic have also appeared. They have comfortable and stable soles, woven from string, jute or special straw. They come in both flat versions, as well as on an anchor or platform. Women's espadrille sandals are not suitable for formal, elegant styling, and it is better not to wear them with tailored pants or elegant cocktail dresses. But they will be perfect for most informal summer sets - accompanied by shorts, airy boho-style dresses, embroidered blouses and large plaid bags (very fashionable recently).
Elegant sandals with a built-in front
Women's flip-flops of the mule type, i.e. with a built-up front and an open heel, were a summer hit of several previous seasons. Now their slightly altered version is back, with a strap added to the heel giving them the shape of women's sandals. Most often they come in bright pastel colors, on a stiletto, a post, but also quite a flat heel. Insanely stylish and elegant, this type of sandals will go well with chic pants with a pressed edge, a jacket, a pleated skirt. High-heeled models can be worn with formal dresses, as they will successfully replace classic pumps.
What color sandals to choose?
. If you choose those in nude color, you will add lightness and grace to the styling. they will come out great worn with pastel clothes in shades of muted pink, gray, blue, light green. They will also find their way into black and white or exclusively white styling. And remember: white stripes and such soles look light and fresh on tanned feet, so in summer shoes in this color will be easier to get fond of. A continuing strong trend is eco style, natural colors and materials - leather, jute, cord, canvas, cork. Such sandals always have a strong position and do not let themselves be pushed out by seasonal fashions. It can be assumed that many of today's models, consisting of a thin leather sole and a few thongs, resemble in print those worn by the inhabitants of ancient Greece or Rome.
All you need to know about the history of women's sandals
It was probably one of the ancient Egyptian women, and immediately after her did her fellow Greek and Roman women. Comfortable sandals are shoes as old as our civilization. They were exceptionally prized by the ancients of the Nile delta and the Mediterranean, becoming one of the symbols of the lifestyle of the time. At that time they were made mainly of... papyrus, although rich patrician women and their husbands wore luxurious models made of gilded or painted leather. Then for a long time they exiled from our closets and dressing rooms as immodest and indecent footwear, since they exposed the bare foot. They returned only in the 1920s, after World War I, which brought women's independence in the political and moral sphere, and, incidentally, in fashion. Along with short skirts, knitted dresses, pants, comfortable sandals appeared. Great popularity was gained by open-toed pumps-type shoes, with a hole in the nose exposing the toes, but worn mainly at home. In the 1930s, women began to shed their pumps en masse during the summer months, opting for elegant, openwork women's sandals on lightweight soles, made of linen or woven from leather straps.
Classic models of sandals still in fashion
The 1960s and flower power, the cultural offensive of flower children, brought another breakthrough in the history of women's sandals. They appeared then in a super-comfortable version - on a flat, cork sole, comfortable and foot-friendly. To this day they still have a certain place in our closets. The 1960s also marked the birth of another iconic women's sandal - in disco style, on a stately platform, glowing with neon colors. This striking model is also still loved and keeps coming back in the most varied versions. Today we can't imagine life without sandals. They not only provide us with summer comfort, but also add beauty. Exposing almost the entire foot, they can wonderfully slenderize and lengthen a woman's legs. And the choice of styles is already so large that we can actually choose sandals for any occasion - the most versatile shoes that man has invented.
